Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has assumed the position of acting National Chairman following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Kyari’s appointment aligns with the party’s constitution, which stipulates that the deputy national chairman from the respective region takes over in an acting capacity in the event of the national chairman’s resignation.
Currently, Kyari is leading a meeting at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, accompanied by several members of the National Working Committee (NWC), including deputy national chairman (South) Emma Enukwu, national vice chairmen from various regions, and the deputy national secretary, Barr. Festus Fuanter.
Adamu reportedly resigned due to opposition from influential figures associated with the president, in anticipation of the party’s upcoming National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings. These meetings are scheduled for July 18th and 19th, 2023, respectively.
