Karim Benzema has been named the European footballer of the year for the first time.
The won the award on Thursday evening at an event held in Istanbul, Turkey.
The French and Real Madrid forward won his fifth UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid, scoring 15 goals in the process.
Of the 15 goals, 10 were scored in the knockout stages.
His first headed goal against Chelsea was also awarded the UCL goal of the season.
He also managed 27 goals in the Spanish La Liga as Real Madrid won the league and the Spanish Super Cup. He also won the UEFA Super Cup as Madrid beat Eintracht Frankfurt.
