The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, says it has released a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Olubunmi Etteh, who was detained by the commission on suspicious and shady financial involvement with Phil Jin Projects Limited.
This was disclosed in a short statement issued on Saturday by the EFCC Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren and made available to SWITCH NIGERIA.
According to the statement, Etteh released on Friday, May 20, 2022 upon fulfilling bail conditions offered her by investigators working on her matter.
It further said the former speaker is to report periodically to assist further investigations.
The former speaker was arrested and detained by the commission on Tuesday over allegations of fraud.
She was elected speaker in 2007 but resigned only after a few months amid allegations of financial misappropriation.
She is the only woman in the country’s history to have been elected Speaker.
