The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have extended the ongoing warning strike for additional 3 months.
The national executive committee of the Union said this after a meeting that v began on Sunday night and lasted till early Monday morning.
The SUN Newspaper reported that the decision was taken at an emergency meeting held at ASUU Secretariat in Abuja.
The meeting had in attendance principal officers and branch chairmen and lasted through the night.
The two month rollover strike declared in March 14, 2022 by ASUU ended today (May 9th), and it came after the the initial 4 weeks warning strike that started in February.
Thus the NEC felt the need to extend it by 3 more months after initial agitation for indefinite strike to be declared.
ASUU’s demands include the non-implementation of the Memorandum of Action (MoA) signed with government in December 2020 on funding for revitalisation of public universities (both federal and states), renegotiation of the 2009 FGN/ ASUU Agreement and the deployment of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS).
