The Nigerian Army says it has intercepted one Mary Ngoshe, a woman believed to be one of the girls from Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Chibok, Borno State, abducted in 2014.
Recall that on April 14, 2014, Boko Haram insurgents invaded GGSS, Chibok, and abducted 276 schoolgirls who were preparing for their final year examination.
Among those abducted, 164 reportedly escaped, were released or found.
The abduction of the girls drew global outcry, giving birth to the #bringbackourgirls movement across Nigeria at the time.
Findings revealed that 109 of the girls still remain in the custody of the insurgents, despite several efforts to rescue the girls.
According to a terse statement posted on its facebook page on Wednesday morning, the army said troops of 26 Task Force Brigade on patrol around Ngoshe in Borno State on 14 June 2022 intercepted Mary and her son.
The statement also said the troops are still conducting further exploitation.
It said, “Troops of 26 Task Force Brigade on patrol around Ngoshe in Borno State on 14 June 2022 intercepted one Mrs Mary Ngoshe and her son. She is believed to be one of the abducted girls from GGSS Chibok in 2014. Further exploitation ongoing.”
