Former Plateau State Governor, Joshua Dariye has indicated interest in contesting for Labour Party’s Plateau Central Senatorial ticket.
Dariye who just got released from prison on Monday, was formerly of the People’s Democratic Party fold, a party he contested and won Plateau State Governor under.
However in 2011, he decamped to Labour Party where he ran and won the Senatorial ticket of the party. Later, he joined the All Progressives Congress.
Dariye who together with former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Nyame, got presidential pardon on Monday, was in the 4th year of his 10-year jail term for embezzling N1.126 billion.
A Labour Party official, who preferred not to be named, said: “Yes, it is true that he (Dariye) will be running for a Senate seat. We are making arrangements for him to come from Abuja for the senatorial declaration.”
The party is hopeful that with his coming, the chances of the Party’s Governorship candidate, Patrick Dakum have been bettered.
