Manchester United forward, Jesse Lingard is set to leave the club after feeling let down by the club.
The winger has been at United since 2000, when he joined the club as kid. He progressed through the ranks over the years and in 2011, he had a breakthrough season and has since made 149 appearances.
However, since 2012 he has been on several loan spells. Leicester City, Birmingham City, Brighton and Hove Albion, Derby County and last year, West Ham United.
As can be seen, his United career hasn’t really gone according to plan. And after his successful spell at West Ham, he was expecting to finally get a chance at the club.
But the 29 year old has only made 16 appearances in the soon-to-be concluded 2021/2022 Premier League season. One may say the managerial changes at the club also have not helped, plus the return of Ronaldo and arrival of Sancho and the breakthrough season of Elanga.
Fabrizio Romano, popular Italian journalist known for his always reliable transfer news, confirmed the news on Wednesday evening.
“Jesse Lingard has decided to leave Manchester United since January and his position won’t change. He wanted to make Newcastle move on Deadline Day but it wasn’t possible due to Man Utd decision,” Romano said on Twitter.
“Lingard will now consider many bids. Staying at Man Utd was never an option.”
