The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has postponed the governorship and state assembly elections to March 18.
The Electoral body cited logistics problems as the result for the shift.
“The elections were postponed to allow one more week for preparations,” an official familiar with the meeting told Peoples Gazette by telephone on Wednesday night. “We should be able to get everything in order before March 18.”
The two elections were earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday, 11 March.
The Commission earlier on Wednesday got permission from the Appeal Court to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System(BVAS) to be used for the gubernatorial elections.
The Commission is yet to confirm this postponement.
