The world’s richest man, Elon Musk has said he will purchase Manchester United.
The 51 year old said this in a tweet on Tuesday, thereby causing a meltdown on Twitter especially amongst fans of the English club.
Manchester United is in crisis on and off the pitch, with the fans calling for the owners to sell the club. There are rumored plans to boycott their next home game against eternal rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford this weekend.
“To be clear, I support the left half of the Republican Party and the right half of the Democratic Party! Also, I’m buying Manchester United ur(sic) welcome,” Musk tweeted.
Desperate Manchester United fans have been calling on Musk, who is the founder and CEO of Tesla, to buy the club.
However, when quizzed by a fan in the comment section, Musk said, “No, this is a long-running joke on Twitter. I’m not buying any sports teams.”
He went on to say, “Although, if it were any team, it would be Man U. They were my fav (sic) team as a kid.”
