A 42-year-old man has been brought before an Ikeja Magistrate Court for assaulting his wife and injuring his toddler’s arm.
The prosecution, Raji Akeem, who gave the name of the defendant as Austin Anthony, said the incident occurred on September 8, 2022.
He said Mr. Anthony and his wife, Ifeyinwa had a brawl after the latter confronted the former for his refusal to take responsibility for their children.
Akeem added that Mr. Anthony proceeded to forcefully remove their three-months-old baby from the wife’s back, which resulted in the baby dislocating his arm.
The defendant then went on to brutalize his wife before pushing him off a storey building. He added that he also threatened his wife with a kitchen knife.
Akeem said the defendants actions go against sections 56, 172, 245 and 246 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Mr. Anthony pleaded not guilty to the charges. However, presiding magistrate, Ogunsanmi B. O, granted the defendant bail at the tune of N500, 000 with two sureties. Ogunsanmi set November 2 as the new date for mention.
