Shakhtar Donetsk’s President, Rinat Akhmetov has released a statement regarding the transfer of Ukraine and Shakhtar Donetsk forward Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea.
The President of the Ukrainian club, while speaking on the transfer after it was completed on Sunday, stated that 25% of the fee will be given to the Ukrainian soldiers for their selfless service in the Ukraine-Russia war.
“I’m donating £25m of the Mudryk transfer fee to help our soldiers, defenders & families. The money will be used to cover different needs,” Shakhtar president Akhmetov.
He also confirmed that Chelsea will be playing a friendly game with Shakhtar Donetsk.
“We’re proud of Mudryk, we will play a friendly against Chelsea at Donbass Arena in a Ukrainian Donetsk”, he added.
The 22-year-old Ukrainian international was bought by Chelsea for a fee of €100 million including add ons, he cames Ukraine’s highest sale and Chelsea’s second record signing after Romelu Lukaku who moved from Inter Milan to Chelsea.
Mykhaylo Mudryk becomes the fifth arrival for Chelsea in the ongoing winter transfer window after the signing of David Datro Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, João Felix and Andrey Santos.
