A Nigerian Facebook evangelist, Patience Otene is currently having the toughest of times following heavy social media condemnation after she revealed that she recently gave birth out of wedlock.
Patience had on Sunday, June 19th, taken to her facebook page to reveal that she welcomed a baby one month ago out of wedlock.
She wrote, “I HAVE A BABY,
Yes you read it right and my baby is a month old today. Am I now married? NO. Does GOD approve of what I have done? Definitely NO, (God’s word on this is very clear and can not be changed), Does the Bible approve of this? Definitely NO. Would I advise another person to do as I have done? Definitely NO. Did I plan it to happen this way, Definitely NO,
“I have gone through the toughest of times in the past months and I’ll tell you for sure that staying in GOD’S will is the best.”
She also apologized to those who may have felt discouraged by her action.
“To those who will feel discouraged considering the fact that I am someone who put up godly contents of what one should do and not do, I am truly sorry.”
She called on them not to lose faith in GOD because of her, “Please do not lose your faith in GOD because of me or what has happened instead let your faith in GOD be strengthened as GOD’S way is the only and best way to do it.”
She also called for prayers for her, “While I am struggling with my spiritual life at the moment, I ask you pray for me in this season as it’s all I really need in this season.”
But after Patience’s revelation, social media went agog as torrents of comments started trailing the news.
While some commended her sincerity and courage, saying, no one is above mistakes, others berated her.
They accused her of preaching one thing and doing the negative.
One comment reads, “Na because of you I take know God? Instead of you to go out and que to get your PVC, you’re there knacking (having sex) and getting pregnant in this high cost of petrol, gas and diesel, couple with high cost of baby food, lack of electricity and insecurity. You get mind ooo.”
Another one reads, “Nobody is perfect but madam… you for close your legs nah. Body no be wood but people are looking up to you. It’s okay sha.”
Here is another one, “Evangelist dey collect wotowoto. Aunty go and take care of your child jare , dere is nothing like wedlock na una dey carry white man religion for head . You be mumu u dey Call other people mumu , now them never knack you ? They have knack pikin out of you.”
