Imo State Police Command spokesperson has confirmed the killing of Christopher Eleghu, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for Onuimo constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly on Friday.
The gunmen also reportedly, set Wasco’s(as he is otherwise called) home ablaze.
Peter Obi mourned his death and called on security outfits to bring the perpetrators to book.
Obi said on Twitter, “I am deeply disturbed by the evidently targeted killing of the Labour Party State House of Assembly Candidate for Onuimo LGA in Imo state, Hon. Christopher Eleghu at his home. His house and cars were reportedly set ablaze.”
“I condemn these heinous acts in the strongest possible terms. Such acts violate our spirit of security, civility and the recently signed Peace Accord. Federal and State security agencies must work assiduously to uncover those behind this killing,” he added.
This is coming after the Labour Party women leader, Kaduna chapter, Victoria Chintex, was brutally killed.
In another attack, the restaurant of Kebbi State Women Leader was also burnt down.
