Nasiru Gawuna, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Kano State in March 18 elections has accepted defeat and conveyed his congratulatory message to the eventual winner: Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
Gawuna who’s currently the incumbent deputy gov. of the state issued the congratulations yesterday, via his chief press secretary, Hassan Musa-Fagge.
He said: “I am congratulating him, and I pray for him for Allah’s guidance in his administration. Initially, we have prayed to Allah to choose what is best for us because he is the almighty who gives power to whom He wishes,” the Kano deputy governor explained. “Even though our party has written a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to complain to review the election due to some irregularities, today it has issued the pronounced winner with (a) certificate of return. I have taken it in good faith.”
He added, “I am thanking President Muhammadu Buhari for coming out to seek the support of the Kano electorate to vote for me. To the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Vice-President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima, and my leader, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, thank you for your immeasurable contribution. I am expressing my appreciation to the Kano people and the APC supporters for casting their votes for the party.”
