Chelsea’s woes on the pitch continued on Wednesday night when they hosted RB Salzburg in the UEFA Champions League.
It was the first game of Graham Potter’s reign after he replaced Thomas Tuchel.
And with the suspension of domestic games due to the passing of British Queen, Elizabeth II, the former Brighton man was starting his reign in a competition he has never managed in.
The Blues appeared to be in absolute control after they opened the scoring through Raheem Sterling, but things never clicked after that. Sterling had curled a rocket into the corner, which was no less than they deserved.
But as Chelsea have done all season, they were unable to see the game out as two Nigerians, Adamu and Okafor combined to equalise for the Austrian side, with 15 minutes to left on the clock.
Late efforts by Ziyech and Broja were not enough to get Graham Potter his first win.
