During the graduation ceremony at Guwori Islamic Academy in the Jere Local Government Area of Borno State, Governor Banagana Zulum approved a grant of N80 million for the educational institution.
This generous allocation, which will be distributed in stages, aims to bolster educational resources, enhance teachers’ well-being, and create an optimal teaching and learning atmosphere, ultimately benefiting underprivileged children’s access to education.
He said: “I am highly impressed with what I have seen here today. Students’ performance is quite encouraging; as a government, we are ready to support our children to receive good education (formal and non-formal).
“I, therefore, announced an N80 million grant to the school.
“Each year, we will release N20 million to complement payment of teachers’ salaries and other expenses.
“The first cheque of N20 million would be issued to the school management tomorrow (Monday).”
Additionally, Gov. Zulum distributed N4.1 million to a group of 23 graduate students and 12 individuals who had successfully memorized the Qur’an. He specified that each recipient would be given N250,000, while 11 others who had completed their primary education but were unable to memorize the Qur’an would receive N100,000 each.
The Governor urged parents to instil the values of Islam in their children, enabling them to evolve into responsible and contributing members of society. Furthermore, he restated his commitment to bolstering infrastructure, as well as social and economic progress, highlighting that his administration has taken proactive measures to combat crime and safeguard lives and property.
