Borussia Dortmund’s forward, Karim Adeyemi has admitted that Nigerian fufu was the secret behind his brisling speed for his goal against Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The 21-year-old German international made the confession after his side defeated Chelsea 1-0 in a first leg round of 16 tie at the Signal Iduna park in Dortmund.
In a game which he was awarded the man of the match award at full-time, the player who is from a Nigerian descent through his father confirmed to the media that fufu was the secret behind his speed which saw him ran from his own half in the 63rd minute before beating British record transfer Enzo Fernandez and world’s costliest goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for the game’s only goal.
“I eat a lot of African foods,” he laughed when asked what he eats.
“But I have good genetics from my dad so I think it’s a little bit difficult for you to get fast.
“It’s called Fufu from Nigeria,” when asked the name of the African food.
