A two-time former chairman of Benue State Inland Revenue Service, Mr. Andrew Ayabam, has joined the Benue Northeast Senatorial race.
This is not the first time he will be indicating interest in the Zone A Senatorial seat currently occupied by the People’s Democratic Party’s Gabriel Suswam. Back in 2014, he also joined the race, only to fall short at the end.
Ayabam who will be contesting under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is an accomplished banker and tax administrator with over 26 years experience in both sectors. He rose through the ranks in the banking sector to serve as Public Sector head, North Central at FCMB in 2008 and later in 2010, he was appointed Executive Chairman of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS).
Having employed over 2000 youth in the service, he grew the revenue base of Benue State from N2bn to over N12bn, a feat never achieved prior to his appointment.
Andrew, also known as Terhemba, is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCIA), Member of the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA), Chartered Institue of Public Administrators (CIPA) and several other professional bodies.
He also has several academic publications to his credit and is married to Deyila and are blessed with eight children.
