The Federal Government has told state governors to prioritise poverty alleviation.
The statement by the Federal Government stated that state governments are the major cause of poverty, charging them to leave building of overhead bridges and airports alone.
Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clement Agba, made the accusation while fielding questions at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, at the State House, Abuja, according to Arise TV.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) recently revealed that no fewer than 133 million Nigerians, representing 63 per cent of the population were living in multi-dimensional poverty.
