The Nigeria Football Federation has disclosed that the 2023 edition of the Federation Cup will
begin in May.
The NFF revealed this in a statement at the end of its meeting on Monday night in Abuja.
The 2022 edition of the competition was inconclusive and no winner was announced by the NFF.
The NFF said the competition would commence a week before the end of the 2022/23 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
“It further noted that winner of the competition, as well as the third-placed team in the NPFL would represent Nigeria in the 2024 edition of the CAF Confederation Cup.
“country’s flag creditably at the CAF Confederation Cup. It observed that failure to adhere to the calendar/lack of any in the past few years was the principal reason for Nigeria’s recent poor show in continental club competitions.”
