An unnamed father and one other person narrowly survived lynching by an angry mob in a park in Lagos State following their rescue by police operatives after they were seen with the corpse of a five (5) years old boy.
This was disclosed in a tweet posted by the Spokesman of the Lagos State police command, Benjamin Hundeyin on his official twitter handle on Tuesday afternoon.
Hundeyin said it all began after the man’s five (5) years old boy took ill and died overnight and the family insisted that the little boy be buried in the village.
The police spokesman said, as a result of that, the father, accompanied by another person, went to a bus terminal with the corpse of the little boy.
He further said passersby, who the duo with the corpse raised an alarm and resorted to lynching them with the suspicion they were criminals.
The police image maker disclosed that they were rescued by operatives of the command.
He called on people to avoid raising suspicion upon themselves at all cost.
He wrote, “A 5yr old boy took ill & died overnight. Family insisted he be buried in the village. Father and one other went to bus terminal with corpse. Passersby raised alarm and resorted to lynching. Police came to the rescue. At all cost, avoid bringing dangerous suspicion on yourself. 🙏🏻”
