The Falconets pipped their opponents, Le Bleu of France, to a 1:0 win in their first game of the 2022 Under 20 Women World Cup.
The game which was played in San Jose on Thursday, was a tough contest between between Nigeria and France, with goals hard to come by.
However, the game saw plenty of action towards the closing stages, with French substitute Nassi, putting her side ahead in the 79th minute only for the VAR to disallow the goal after a review.
However, their near-miss soon came back to haunt them. Mercy Idoko who missed a gilt-edged chance in the first half turned provider, as she set up Flourish Sebastine for her 85th minute winner.
The Nigerian ladies will again take on South Korea on August 14, in what will be their second game in the tournament.
