Manchester United aimed for another successful cup outing as they defeated Reading 3-1 on Saturday evening at Old Trafford to reach the round of 16.
Following Wednesday’s comfortable 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, United turned their attention to the FA Cup fourth round as Paul Ince’s Royals visited Old Trafford.
After a one sided half by the host, which saw Marcus Rashford’s goal was disallowed for offside, Casemiro opened the scoring for Erik Ten Hag’s men in the 55th minute after receiving a precious pass from fellow Brazilian teammate Anthony and chipping the ball over the goalkeeper to hand United a one goal lead.
Four minutes later Casemiro scored his second after beating the goalie with a shot from 25 yards out.
It was an all Brazilian show at Manchester as Fred found the back of the net with a brilliant back-heel flick and it counted despite a VAR review on the 67 minute, two minutes after Ex-Liverpool striker Andy Carroll was sent off for Reading.
The away side then pulled one back, Mbengue was unmarked in the box and nodded home a corner in the 71st minute.
Manchester United sealed up the game with a comprehensive 3-1 victory and moved to the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup.
