Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel has sided with Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola, in saying everyone in England support Liverpool.
Pep said a week ago that Jurgen Klopp’s men have only won one league title in 30 years, but people prefer them to City, no matter how many times City wins titles.
Yesterday, ahead of today’s FA Cup Final against Liverpool, Thomas Tuchel echoed the same sentiments, saying his fellow German, Jurgen Klopp likes playing the underdog card.
Tuchel claimed he understands Guardiola’s “everyone loves Liverpool” comment. “You have the feeling the whole country loves Liverpool so if Chelsea are the bad guys (in FA Cup Final) then no problem. We take that role, we don’t want to have the sympathy of the country, we want to have the trophy.”
Tuchel added: “You know Klopp is the master of being the underdog. He can talk you into being the underdog against Villarreal & against Benfica, it’s a miracle – a miracle – how they even draw against them. He can talk you into it & he does it all the time, he does it a lot of times.”“You have to do your thing and not get influenced. I was the guy behind him at Dortmund [Klopp] and it was another role to do this, not always easy. But I have nothing but the biggest respect for him for what he’s doing. He is very charismatic,” Tuchel added.
Tuchel replaced Klopp at Borussia Dortmund. Klopp was the only one to break the Bayern Munich monopoly over the Bundesliga, winning it two times and leading Dortmund to the Champions League final where they lost 2:1 to Bayern Munich. And since his departure, Bayern has won the Bundesliga ten consecutive times. Tuchel could not win anything with Dortmund.
