Former APC presidential aspirant, Chief Charles Udeogaranya, urges the Federal government to halt the persecution of Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Udeogaranya asserts that Emefiele’s troubles seem to stem primarily from the New Naira redesign project, which significantly curbed vote buying during the 2023 general elections.
Despite acknowledging the hardships caused by the program, Udeogaranya highlights its role in electing legislators, and governors, and ensuring a credible presidential election, which the Judiciary is currently assessing for fairness.
Furthermore, the program empowered many Nigerians with essential electronic platform skills for the modern era.
Udeogaranya warns that if vote buying is allowed to persist unchecked, the 2023 general election would become a one-sided affair favouring the opposition.
