Manchester United defeated Leeds United at Elland Road 2-0 to move into second spot on the Premier League log on Sunday afternoon.
A fixture which took place for the second time in a week after Leeds historic win at Old Trafford when taking a 2-0 lead on Wednesday night, was destroyed through Marcus Rashford who got his side back into the game on the hour mark before substitute Jadon Sancho produced an equalizer shortly after to force the game into a 2-2 draw.
Erik Ten Hag’s men started nicely in the afternoon, controlling possession but not convincing at the Leeds half with Leeds having threatened United more in the whole of a 0-0 first half.
Marcus Rashford’s brilliant form at the turn of the year continued, the English forward who has scored seven goals in his last eight games met with a beautiful timed pass from Luke Shaw and placed his header into the left post which gave United a 1-0 lead in the 80th minute.
Substitute Alejandro Garnacho then put the game beyond reach for the host as his shot from just inside the box beat Leeds United goalkeeper at his near post five minutes later.
The win took Manchester City above City rivals Manchester City who takes on Aston Villa later at night.
