Manchester City resumed their English Premier League season with a 3-1 win away to Leeds United on Wednesday night.
Pep Guardiola’s Men went into the encounter having gone seven points shy of league leaders Arsenal and pushed to third on the log by high flyers NewCastle United.
A first half which saw Manchester City dominated proceedings, with the citizens having a possession of 74% and a total shot of 15 with six on target before they left it late to find the breakthrough in the last minute of added time in the half through Midfielder Rodri, who punched onto a rebound after Mahrez’s shot was initially saved as city took a 1-0 going into the break.
Second half saw Manchester City picking up from where they left as league’s leading scorer Erling Haaland scored his 19th goal of the season after converting a pass from Jack Grealish through a quick counter in the 51st minute.
Erling Haaland then scored his second goal and 20th of the season breaking the record for the fastest player to reach 20 goals in premier League history as he was again set up by Jack Grealish just a minute after the hour mark as city took a three goal lead.
Pascal Struijk then reduced the deficit for 15th place Leeds United but his goal wasn’t enough as Manchester City moved back into second position on the log and five points behind Arsenal.
