Nigerian International, Taiwo Awoniyi scored the only goal of the game in Nottingham Forest 1-0 away win against Southampton on Wednesday night.
Southampton who are on a five game losing streak in the league welcomed Nottingham Forest knowing that a win would lift them from the foot of the premier League table after they sit in 20th position from their first 17 games.
The host started well on the night, their push to get an opener was in vain thanks to Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Hennessy who made some great saves in the early stages.
Southampton was then punished three minutes before the half hour mark by Nottingham Forest Striker Taiwo Awoniyi.
The 25-year-old Nigerian then scored his fourth goal of the season in the 27th minutes after Southampton lost the ball in Midfield through Brennan Johnson whose pass from the edge of the box found Awoniyi who scored with a simple tap in.
Southampton tried to get into the game but Nottingham Forest held on to record their fourth win of the season and moved to 15th on the log surpassing Bournemouth.
While the win for Nottingham Forest is their first away win of the season after 18 games played.
