During his inaugural media chat in Enugu, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State emphasized the need for collective action to bring an end to the “sit-at-home” mandate imposed by the proscribed Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in the Southeast region.
He attributed the directive to individuals he referred to as “enemies of Igboland.” Mbah called upon the media and the people of Enugu State to unite their efforts in combating fear-mongering and the dissemination of misinformation, which he identified as the latest tactics employed by IPOB.
“They have lost their capacity to inflict havoc on lives and property as was previously the case due to re-energised security measures,’’ he said.
Mbah made a resolute declaration that Enugu State was successfully countering the enforcers of the “sit-at-home” order and would never submit to the commands of individuals he deemed “murderers and enemies of Igboland.”
He emphasized that if the people of Enugu State continued to divert their energy towards anonymous troublemakers, the state would not be able to attract investments, residents, and tourists.
Mbah urged the citizens of Enugu State not to be deceived by those who exploit the name of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as a shield for their criminal activities. The governor emphasized that Kanu had already expressed his dissatisfaction with the enforcement of the “sit-at-home” order and its detrimental impact on Igboland.
