The head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Austin Eguavoen has stepped down from his position after he failed to qualify his side for the Qatar World Cup.
This was announced on Thursday by Mohammed Sanusi, the NFF General Secretary, just days after the Super Eagles were ousted by a much better Ghana side.
In a signed statement made available to the press, the Nigerian Football Federation also dismissed other coaches and members of Eguavoen’s team.
“In addition, we have terminated the appointment of the entire members of the technical crew of the team with immediate effect,” he said.
The statement added that the NFF will now proceed to look for a replacement for the now vacant position.
“The new technical crew is to lead the new charge of reinvigorating the Super Eagles to face future challenges appropriately.”
