A total of seventeen suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo Boys” have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos zonal command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the EFCC Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren.
According to the EFCC statement, the suspects were arrested on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
The statement gave the names of the suspects as Ogunnowo Aderosola, Adebesin Adeyinka, Nkeokelonye Stanley Ifeanyi, Afolabi Babatunde Oluwaseun, Onyeka Nwokoro, Micheal Adedayo Owolabi, Musah Esosa Hakeem, Osim Happiness and Sanusi Timilehin Olawale.
The others are Sanusi Timilehin Rasak, Emmanuel Obogo Adeja, Ogunnowo Eniola, Idahosa Samuel Osas, Alabi Ajekola Peter, Timilehin Damilola Emmanuel, Egbuno Ifeanyi Favour and Jimoh Oluwapelumi Ibrahim.
“They were arrested in a sting operation at Kay-Farm Estate, Ishaga axis of Lagos State following credible intelligence on the activities of members of an Organised Cybercrime Syndicate Network who are into internet fraud,” the statement reads briefly.
It also revealed that various items such as cars, mobile devices, and laptops were recovered upon their arrest.
Furthermore, it said the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
