He stated that there had been 51 attacks on INEC facilities between 2019 and 2022, which include that of the Imo State, and noted that such action has implications for political participation as electorates cannot be denied the right to exercise their fundamental right by electing leaders in those affected areas, and this means that the commission would either have to rebuild those offices provided there is money or provide a temporary place to be used.
Mr. Samson also indicated that it will be of paramount importance for INEC to reprint all the sensitive materials, including the voter cards, that were burned and destroyed in those affected areas, and all these actions would require money, which seems like a wastage of tax payers’ money.
