A Son Heung-min double and a late debut goal for Arnaut Danjuma did the damage for Spurs as they sealed their progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup against their lower-league hosts.
Danjuma who is on loan from Spanish side, Villareal backheeled a cross into the net, much to the delight of the travelling fans.
Tottenham’s Son Heung-min scored his first FA Cup goals since February 2020 (v Southampton) – in fact, each of his last four goals in the competition have come in the fourth round, while it was his first brace in the FA Cup since February 2018 (v Rochdale).
Tottenham Hotspur have now progressed beyond the fourth round of the FA Cup for a fourth successive season, their longest such run in the competition since 1979-1983, however, they have gone on to be eliminated from each of their last three fifth round ties.
Preston North End have now lost each of their last seven FA Cup matches against top-flight opposition, all of which have come at home – in fact, they haven’t won at home to a top-flight side in the competition since January 1979 (3-0 v Derby County).
Danjuma has Nigerian roots but was born and bred in the Netherlands.
