Real Madrid defeated Egyptian side Al Ahly 1-4 in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup
Vinicius Junior’s 50th goal for the club with Federico Valverde, Rodrigo and Arribas’s second half strike was enough as the European champions set up a final encounter with Al Hilal in Saturday’s final.
Madrid entered the encounter in Rabat, Morocco still missing their talisman and Ballon D’or winner Karen Benzema so Ancelotti opted for an attack featuring Rodrygo, Vinicius and Valverde. Camavinga is filling in at left-back.
Before kickoff, there was also a minute’s silence for the victims of the earthquake in Turkey.
Madrid got off the mark and it’s Vinicius with a bit of brilliance and composed finishing.
Al Ahly brazenly gives it away as Dieng heads back towards goal and Vinicius says ‘thank you very much’, takes a couple of touches and lifts the ball calmly over El Shenawy for his 50th goal for his club whilst handing Real Madrid a one goal lead.
Two minutes after the break the away side then doubled their lead as Modric was given space to run in midfield then he played in Rodrygo.
The Brazilian’s effort is saved – but it runs out to Valverde, who just needs to shuffle the ball away from a couple of defenders and slot home.
Al Ahly then pulled one back from the penalty spot through Maaloul after Camavinga brought down El Shahat in his own box in the 64th minute.
Luka Modric missed a penalty in the 87th before Rodrigo and Arribas’s 90th minute strikes put the game to bed as Real Madrid held on to 1-4 victory, booking a final date with Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal who defeated Flamengo 2-3 in the first semi-finals.
