Real Madrid produced a flamboyant display to outclass Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal 5-3 in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday night to win their fifth title.
The Saudi Arabian side defeated South American champions Flamengo in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Real Madrid defeated Al Ahly 4-1 to book their spot in the showpiece event, which was held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Morocco, the same ground as Los Blancos’ semi-final.
The European champions got their noses in front in the 12th minute through Vinícius Júnior whose right footed shot from the center of the box.
Federico Valverde then scored his second of the tournament to double Real Madrid’s lead with a right footed shot from the right side of the box five minutes later.
Moussa Marega then pulled one back for Al Hilal to take the game to a 2-1 scoreline at halftime before Karim Benzema scored in the 54th minute to give the Spanish side a 3-1 lead.
Federico Valverde then scored a brace four minutes later as Madrid took a 4-1 lead at 58 minutes.
Argentine Luciano Vitetto reduced the scoreline to 4-2 five minutes later before Vinicius Junior’s brace a minute shy of the 70th minute put Madrid 5-2 up.
Luciano Vitetto then became the third player to score a brace on the night after his 79th minute strike as Real Madrid held on to a 5-3 victory.
The victory hands Carlo Ancelotti’s men their first FIFA Club World Cup crown since 2018 and their 100th title as a club.
