RMC Sport report tonight that an agreement has been reached between Chelsea and Lyon over the transfer of young right-back Malo Gusto, with the defender set to sign for the West Londonders before being loaned back to the Ligue 1 side until the end of the season.
With the Blues’ initial €20m offer being pushed back by the club, Chelsea appear to have been successful with their second bid. Laurent Blanc had indicated in his press conference earlier that he had been given assurances by the Lyon hierarchy that both Gusto and PSG target Rayan Cherki would be staying until the campaign ends.
The exact sum of the Premier League side’s latest bid has yet to filter through, but previous reports from Foot Mercato had indicated that a figure of €30m-€40m was to be expected – a transfer fee too steep for Lyon to turn down for the French youth international, especially given they are unlikely to make European football for the third year running.
