Chelsea have agreed a British record fee for Brighton star Moises Caicedo, according to stunning reports.
The Blues are understood to be paying an initial £100 million, plus £15 million in performance-related add-ons.
The agreement between Chelsea and Brighton comes after Liverpool agreed a £111 million deal for the midfielder.
But the player opted against moving to Anfield as he preferred a switch to Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea finally agreeing a deal with Brighton having had their previous offers rejected this summer.
Chelsea will break the British record twice this year following the signing of Enzo Fernandez, who cost £107 million from Benfica.
The 21-year-old has been given permission to undergo a medical ahead of his transfer being made official.
He will sign an eight-year contract, with the option of a further year, which means he could be at Chelsea for NINE years.
The deal to bring Caicedo to Chelsea also includes a sell-on clause that has been described as ‘significant’.
The Ecuadorian played no part in Brighton’s 4-1 victory over Luton Town for their season-opener as he was left out of the squad.
Though he played a starring role last season, making 37 appearances in the Premier League. He won the club’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.
Chelsea, meanwhile, drew 1-1 with Liverpool on Sunday. They resume their league campaign on Sunday when they face West Ham United.
