Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, made a return to training for Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday, after five years battle with acute leukaemia.
The 35-year-old had to hang up his boots back in 2017, after he was diagnosed with leukaemia, blood cancer.
But on Friday, his former club, Wolves, invited him to train with them, and he showed up to hugs and kisses, as he met with the current players, coaches and staff.
“Following a 12-month battle with acute leukaemia Carl Ikeme was forced to bring an 18-year Wolves career to a premature end and retire from professional football in July 2018.”
They added, “See what happened when we invited Carl to spend the day back at Compton Park for the first time in nearly five years.”
Later on the pitch, he showed great reflexes as the team trained, as if he had never left.
Many regard Ikeme as Nigeria’s best shot stopper since Vincent Enyeama, but it remains to be seen if he will pull on the white and green of Nigeria again.
