Manchester United recorded a 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest in their visit the City Ground for the first time in over two decades in the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.
United were defeated 3-2 against Arsenal at the weekend, but Erik ten Hag has insisted that performance has been ‘left behind’ in preparation for the first leg of the League Cup against Nottingham Forest, who have improved in recent weeks.
Marcus Rashford socred the first goal on the night after a fine individual move, the English beats two Forest defenders and slot his short into the left corner of the net to give the away side a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute.
Wout Weghorst then scored his first for the club on the stroke of halftime. The 30-year-old Dutchman who joined Manchester United from Burnley was first to react to a short which was initially saved by Nottingham forest Goalkeeper.
Manchester United then rounded off the scoring through captain Bruno Fernandes after a quick counter a minutes before the 90 as the red devils takes a three goal advantage into the second leg.
The second leg will be played at Old Trafford on February 1 and that could decide which side progresses to Wembley.
