River United recorded their first victory in CAF Confederations Cup with a 3-0 victory over Ivorian side ASEC Mimosas in a group B encounter in Uyo on Sunday evening.
The Reigning NPFL champions who are the only representatives of Nigeria in Africa this season lost away to Diables Noirs 3-0 in their first group game last weekend.
Rivers United got off to a Solid start from seconds from Kickoff through Malachi Ohawume who handed his side an early lead off an Nwagua Nyima’s assist in the first minute.
The hosts then doubled their advantage as Ukeme Williams scored from a brilliant strike in the 42nd minute to give the River state based side a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Ndasi Denis headed home the third goal just three minutes after the restart as they recorded their first win in group B in their second time of asking.
Victory takes the pride of Rivers to second on the log with three points from two goals while they next face Republic of Congo side Motema Pembe next Sunday.
