Nigeria champions, Rivers United will this afternoon depart the country for Luanda, Angola for their CAF Confederation Cup Group B match against DC Motema Pembe of Congo.
The match will be played in Luanda on
Sunday, February 26. It will hold at the
Estádio 11 de Novembro, the adopted
home of the Congolese side.
Rivers United delegates will depart via
Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport,
Abuja through an Ethiopian Airline. The team will stopover at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia before they board a connecting flight to Luanda, the Angola capital.
Confirming their traveling itinerary on
Thursday, the club in a statement noted that the delegates will arrive in Luanda on Friday.
“Rivers United will depart the FCT Abuja, Nigeria for Luanda, Angola via Ethiopian airline flight at 1:25pm today, February 23, 2023 with a stopover in Addis Ababa.”
“The team’s contingent is expected to
arrive in Luanda, Angola on Friday,” the club said.
Rivers United are hoping to shock
their hosts in Luanda by picking the
three points. The Nigerians are second in Group B with 3 points while their hosts are third with two points.
The Congolese have remained unbeaten drawing their two matches goalless. Their guests have mixed results after two games, one loss and one victory.
After the match, the Pride of Rivers
will return to Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo Akwa Ibom for their matchday 4 reverse fixture against Motema Pembe on March 8, 2023.
