River United continued their continental pursuit with a 3-1 victory over Congolese side Motema Pembe in a CAF confederation cup Matchday four group B fixture on Thursday afternoon.
The match which was initially scheduled to hold on Wednesday was postponed after the away side arrived late in Nigeria due to logistical issues.
The hosts draw first blood in the last minute of the first half at the Nest of Champions in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
Through Ghanian Paul Acquah who glanced home a brilliant free kick by the exceptional Ukeme Williams in 45+3.
Shortly after the break, two Ghanaians then combined as Paul Acquah got his brace, acrobatically volleying home Ampiah Emmanuel’s exquisite cross in the 56th minute.
Motema Pembe then reduced the deficit as substitute Mydo Nakouho Yallet scored for the visitors after his initial header came off the post but he reacted quickest to head home 12 minutes before the full time.
Paul Acquah then completed his hat-trick after he found the bottom right from close range to close the game for the hosts who now moved into top of group B with 9 points from four games.
