Bukayo Saka’s fine displays during January have seen him nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award, with supporters encouraged to vote for their star performer.
For the second straight month, Bukayo has been included in the six-man shortlist for the prize and is looking to follow in Martin Odegaard’s footsteps who won the November/December award.
Our attacker featured in three league matches during the month, and played a crucial role in our victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby by driving in off the right flank and his fierce shot forcing Hugo Lloris to concede an own goal, before setting up Odegaard to make it 2-0.
He then netted a superb strike against Manchester United in the following match to take his tally to seven in 19 league games this term, matching the number of assists to his name so far.
Bukayo’s rivals for the award are Brighton & Hove Albion’s Solly March, Riyad Mahrez of Manchester City and Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, who all scored three times during the month.
Brennan Johnson’s two goals and two assists during Nottingham Forest’s recent revival has also seen him nominated, while impressive performances at the back by Newcastle United defender Dan Burn and Brentford goalkeeper David Raya also put them in contention.
