The duo of President Muhammadu Buhari and President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian-born boxer — Anthony Joshua, for his win over Jermaine Franklin overnight.
In a congratulatory message posted on Buhari’s official Twitter account, he said: “I celebrate @anthonyjoshua’s victory over a formidable opponent. He has demonstrated that through hard work, dedication, discipline, persistence and humility, those who dare do win.
“I pray that this will be a stepping stone to one of the greatest comebacks in boxing history.”
Tinubu also reacted to Joshua’s celebratory post, where he told the boxer that he and Nigerians are proud of his feat.
“Congratulations Champ! @AnthonyJoshua. Determination and perseverance always pays off.
“Nigeria is proud of you! I am proud of you!,” Tinubu’s tweet read.
