The United States Government has called out President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for allowing massive looting to continue under their watch.
The United States said despite the current administration’s stance on the fight against corruption, they have succeeded in hiding under the immunity the Constitution affords them to loot the Nigerian treasury dry.
According to a statement released by the United States Department of State and titled ‘The annual Country Reports on Human Rights Practices,’ Nigerian State governors are also not left out.
“Massive, widespread, and pervasive corruption affected all levels of government, including the judiciary and security services. The constitution
provides immunity from civil and criminal prosecution for the president, vice president, governors, and deputy governors while in office,” said the report.
Osinbajo has not been left out either, despite being just the vice and always showing face as the ‘good man’ in the present administration. The financial records said GTBank’s Investment One fund management department paid N200 million in three increments of N100 million, N50 million and N50 million to Mr Osinbajo’s campaign account in the build-up to the 2015 presidential election in which he stood as the running mate of Mr Buhari.
Buhari’s aides and Ministers have also been involved in their fair share of corruption and money laundry.
