President Muhammadu Buhari vowed Thursday that his administration will ensure that Nigerians cast their votes in an environment that supports free and fair elections on February 25 and March 11, 2023, regardless of the current volatile atmosphere across the country.
When receiving the Secretary-General, World Customs Organisation, Dr Kunio Mikuriya, at the State House, Abuja, Buhari said: “I have made it a cardinal commitment to ensure each Nigerian is able to exercise their franchise by participating in a free and fair election… it is our objective to ensure this takes place in a peaceful and conducive atmosphere.
Buhari added that the ongoing work to review the Customs enabling law would strengthen the service and provide tougher sanctions against smuggling and other criminal acts. He cited the Federal Executive Council’s approval of a new Customs Modernization Project that actively promotes the integration of technology into border operations.
