English Premier League Club Tottenham Hotspur have sacked it’s manager Antonio Conte after a tumultuous season in North London, with his extraordinary post-match press conference at Southampton the final straw.
The Italian Manager was expected to leave the Londoners when his £15million-a-year contract ended in June, but he has left ahead of that date after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy decided his position was untenable. This came after his remarkable post-match press conference following the 3-3 draw with Southampton last weekend.
confirming the news, Tottenham statement reads; “We can announce that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement. We achieved Champions League qualification in Antonio’s first season at the Club. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him well for the future.”
The club’s chairman Daniel Levy also reminded the public on the club’s goals this season as they chased a UCL finish
“We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place. We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”
Tottenham also announced that Cristian Stellini will take charge of the team as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season, along with Ryan Mason as Assistant Head Coach.
