The coast got more clearer for Babagana Zulum to return to the Borno State Government House as Governor in 2023 after the All Progressives Congress (APC) screened him to contest the forthcoming polls unopposed.
Also cleared by the party is the immediate past governor of the state and serving senator, Kashim Shettima who is also running unopposed for Borno central senatorial seat.
Zulum was successfully screened by the Governorship Screening Committee headed by Senator Abubakar Sodangi at the Transcorp Hilton hotel, Abuja.
After his screening at Transcorp, Zulum accompanied Senator Shettima to Treasure Hotel also in Abuja, where senators were screened.
Zulum is running for second term as governor while Shettima is also running for the senatorial seat for a second term.
Zulum, adjudged to be one of the best performing governors in Nigeria, will now square it out with candidates of the other political parties, most especially the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the general elections.
