German side, Bayer Leverkusen have sacked Gerardo Seoane after a bad start to the new campaign has seen them languishing in 17th place in the Bundesliga.
In his stead, the have opted for former Bayern Munich midfielder, Xabi Alonso, as his replacement.
Alonso who is now 40, currently manages Real Sociedad B, the reserve team in his home town in Spain.
The former Real Madrid and Liverpool midfielder said, “I know Leverkusen from my time in Germany as an excellent club. Bayer 04 have always had great players, and I see a lot of quality in the current squad too,” after agreeing to join them.
