A fish thief was in the early hours of Thursday, given a serious beating after he was caught stealing catfish from a pond in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
The incident happened at Oxbow lake.
According to a facebook user, Ben Agadaga, the thief, whose name was not given, was apprehended by the men of the kingdom grace vigilante security.
He said the thief, who confessed to stealing fish from a pond, hails from Rivers State.
He further said items recovered from him included fresh Catfish, Bible, hammer, Chisel, trowel and others.
“A thief was caught in the early hours of today at Oxbow lake. He was apprehended by the gallant men of the kingdom grace Vigilante security. However, items recovered were, fresh Catfish, Bible, hammer, Chisel, trowel and others. He confessed to the crime of stealing from a pond and he hails from Rivers State,” he said.
It is not clear whether it was hunger that pushed the thief to the crime, a report from another medium, however, revealed that he was given a plate of food after the severe beating.
It was not stated whether the thief was eventually handed over to the police.
Recall that two cable thieves were recently given a plate of food before they were severely beaten after they were caught stealing the wires in same Bayelsa state.
